The Governing Body in the West Midlands Region is the West Midlands Amateur Gymnastics Association (W.M.A.G.A.) and was founded in 1960. It is responsible for the overall control and development of the sport
within its boundaries.
The Region, although autonomous, is affiliated (along with all of the English Regions, plus Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland), to British Gymnastics and the English Gymnastics Home Country Association.

The Region comprises the Counties of the West Midlands Metropolitan County, Warwickshire, Staffordshire, Hereford & Worcester and Shropshire. The W.M.A.G.A. is administered by an Executive Committee consisting of a President, Chairman, Hon Secretary and Hon Treasurer, elected every three years plus a representative from each of the gymnastics disciplines, a Regional Welfare Officer and the Regional Coach Co-Ordinator. Each gymnastics discipline namely: Men's Artistic , Women's Artistic , Acrobatics & Tumbling, Rhythmic , Trampolining and General (which includes GMPD and Pre-School), have their own Technical Committees, that are responsible for the control and development of their particular discipline. All Technical Committees are elected annually by the affiliated Clubs and Members, at specially convened Technical Assemblies. Each member club pays an annual affiliation fee to the Region. Affiliation is open to any club in the Region, providing that coaches are qualified and the coach in charge of the club holds as a minimum a British Gymnastics Level 2 Coach coaching qualification and all club members are registered with the British Gymnastics. | ![]() |
Communications with Clubs and members is well established via the web site www.wmgymnastics.org.uk, Newsletters and Handbooks. The Region provides an extensive annual programme of competitive events for all disciplines and coach and judge education courses and seminars.
The West Midlands is also fortunate to have full-time professional Regional and Area Development Officers for Gymnastics whose major task, is to implement agreed development opportunities and strategies within the Region, primarily involving clubs, Schools, Local Authorities and Leisure Centres.
